Movie Night – The Lives of Others – September 2nd, 2007

the lives of others This Sunday (September 9th), we will be showing the German film, “Das Leben der Anderen” – or ‘The Lives of Others’.

Plot: In the early 1980s, the successful dramatist Georg Dreyman and his longtime companion Christa-Maria Sieland, a popular actress, are big intellectual stars in the socialist state, although they secretly don’t always think loyal to the party line. One day, the Minister of Culture becomes interested in Christa, so the secret service agent Wiesler is instructed to observe and sound out the couple, but their life fascinates him more and more… Runtime: 137minutes. Rated R for some sexuality/nudity.

Special Event – A Celebration of the Senses… August 29th, 2007

On August 29th, 2007, we welcome visual artist Phil Alain’s new collection to 4th & Vine. To celebrate, we are doing an evening of art, live music, food and wine.
Jennifer Katona will host an ‘Around the World’ wine tasting, which will complemented by a live jazz, and some fantastic new paintings. I hope you can join us for what promises to be a spectular evening.
Tickets are $40 per person + gst and gratuity. Please call for reservations, as seating is limited. Further details will be revealed on 4thandvine.ca.

Movie Night – ‘ Perfume: The Story of a Murderer’ – August 26th

perfume poster This Sunday (August 26th), we will be showing the movie ‘Perfume: The Story of a Murderer’, starring Ben Whishaw and Alan Rickman. The film starts at 7:30pm and as always, it’s a good idea to make reservations.

Plot: In 18th Century France, lived a man born with a phenomenal sense of smell. But as a gift becomes an obsession, he strives to create the most intoxicating perfume in the worlld by murdering young women to capture their essence. Runtime: 147 minutes. Rated R for aberrant behavior involving nudity, violence, sexuality, and disturbing images.

Beer Tasting – August 14th, 2007

beer glasses This Tuesday (August 14th), we will be hosting a celebration of beers from around the world. Jeff Sparling will be guiding you on your tour with 12 different brews. The tasting will commence at 7:30 on Tuesday.

We will be tasting these fantastic beers:

Movie Night “1 Giant Leap” – August 12th, 2007

1 giant leap This Sunday (August 12th), we will be showing the music/documentary film, “1 Giant Leap”. The film starts at 7:30pm and as always, it’s a good idea to make reservations. A special thanks to Maggie Walt of Maggie Walt Design for suggesting this.

Plot: Based in the UK, the two musicians (Jamie Catto and Duncan Bridgeman.) set out to create a multimedia project that would encompass a CD, DVD and cinematic presentation that would offer a complete artistic statement. The project offers music, digital video footage shot over the course of six months by Catto and Bridgeman, images, rhythms and spoken word content. Runtime: 155 minutes.

Live Music Wednesday – Kristilyn Robertson- August 8th, 2007

Movie Night “300″ – August 5th, 2007


This Sunday (August 5th), we will be showing the film, “300″, starring Gerard Butler. The film starts at 7:30pm and as always, it’s a good idea to make reservations.

Plot: Based on Frank Miller’s graphic novel, “300″ concerns the 480 B.C. Battle of Thermopylae, where the King of Sparta led his army against the advancing Persians; the battle is said to have inspired all of Greece to band together against the Persians, and helped usher in the world’s first democracy. Runtime: 117minutes. Rated R for graphic battle sequences throughout, some sexuality and nudity.

Canadian Wine Tasting – July 31st, 2007

canadian winesThis Tuesday (July 31st), we end off July with a Canadian Wine tasting. Wines from British Columbia will face off against their Ontario counterparts, as we explore the wines of Gray Monk and Henry of Pelham. The event will be hosted by our good friends Curtis Bawden (Pacific Wines and Spirits) and Jennifer Katona (Charton Hobbs,) so it’s sure to be a great time. The tasting is scheduled to start at 7:30pm, so its a good idea to come a few minutes early. Reservations are absolutely required, so please call (780) 497-7858.

Movie Night “Zodiac” – July 29th, 2007

zodiacThis Sunday (July 29th), we will be showing the film, “Zodiac”, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Mark Ruffalo. The film starts at 7:30pm and as always, it’s a good idea to make reservations.

Plot: Based on the Robert Graysmith books about the real life notorious Zodiac, a serial killer who terrorized San Francisco with a string of seemingly random murders during the 1960s and 1970s. Runtime: 158 minutes. Rated R for some strong killings, language, drug material and brief sexual images.
